Studio Burbridge and Burke

Studio Burbridge and Burke is our creative make-space and home of Burbridge and Burke online operations.

For the first five years, Burbridge and Burke was primary known as a physical store  - a colourful homewares/gift store, nestled into the beautidful small biz community in Nelson Bay (Port Stephens, NSW).

We loved our store. We had so much fun in that space. We loved chatting with our customers, becomming part of the community. We loved visually merchandising the store, working with so much colour and showcasing amazing Australian design talent. 

But...if you have read a little bit about us already, you will know that we are also ourselves creatives and designers. We always planned to work on our own collections, and while we did squeeze in some of our own creative time, it was becomming less and less as the store grew. 

At the same time, our family grew. Our son became a proud big brother to a little sister in January 2023, and adding a new baby to the small biz/family life juggle was overwhelming, to say the least. 

After some deep introspection and analysis (and some fabulous business coaching - shout out to Fiona Killackey of My Daily Business), we realised that we needed to simmer down all those bits that we loved and re-imagine the business in a way that gave us what we needed most - flexibility!

Studio Burbridge and Burke is the result of all those things we love. It's allowed us a space to create and explore. A space to share our love of making with the community through workshops and events. A space to support local and emerging creatives, for pop-ups, exhibitions and collaborations. And it has also become the home of the Burbridge and Burke online store. 

The collection may change over time as we settle more and more into our online only era, but we continue to strongly beleive in supporting and stocking beautiful Australian brands  - which you can shop online. Local click and collect is still available and we are open by appointment.
